Samaritan Scramble Raises $158,000 for Patient Support Program

Thirty-four business teams joined representatives from Samaritan Health Services for a fun, competitive day on the links at Mallard Creek Golf Course near Lebanon, raising an impressive $158,000 for Samaritan Foundations’ Patient Support Program.

Participants took part in a shotgun-start, 18-hole best ball tournament, enjoying both friendly competition and camaraderie throughout the day. Adding a unique twist on the back nine, retired professional golfer Bob Gilder of Corvallis stationed himself at a par-3 hole, offering to tee off on behalf of teams in exchange for a donation — an opportunity many golfers eagerly embraced in support of the cause.

“The Samaritan Scramble is a wonderful example of what’s possible when our community comes together with purpose and generosity,” said Taylor Gilmour, vice president of Samaritan Foundations. “Every dollar raised helps ensure local patients have access to the care and support they need during some of life’s most challenging moments. We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors, players and volunteers who make this impact possible.”

The afternoon concluded with a raffle drawing and an awards ceremony recognizing the top three teams, as well as individual honors for longest drive and closest to the pin.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Samaritan Foundations Patient Support Program, which serves patients in Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties. The program helps individuals and families overcome financial barriers to care by providing assistance with expenses such as medical bills, transportation, prescriptions, nutritional supplements and groceries.

In 2025 alone, more than $47,000 in support was distributed across the tri-county region, assisting more than 400 community members. By promoting equal access to healthcare, the Patient Support Program plays a vital role in helping patients heal and live healthier lives.
