State-of-the-Art Cath Lab Remodel Advances Cardiac Care

Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center has completed a significant upgrade to its catheterization laboratory facilities, marking a major advancement in cardiovascular care for the community.

The project represents a substantial investment in the hospital’s infrastructure and patient care capabilities.

The remodel encompassed five different work areas totaling 1,730 square feet. The project included not only the replacement of outdated fluoroscopy equipment but also a strategic restructuring of the existing equipment room to better meet current needs and improve overall performance. Additional enhancements included updates to lighting, cabinetry and the control room, creating a more efficient and modern working environment for health care professionals.

“The new fluoroscopy equipment significantly decreases radiation exposure for patients and cardiac cath lab personnel,” said Ashwat Dhillon, MD, cath lab medical director.  “It also provides much better visualization than our pre-existing equipment. Therefore, it enables a safer work environment for those of us who work with ionizing radiation on a daily basis, while providing current state of the art imaging.”

While the hospital had to carefully manage volumes and schedules to accommodate patient needs during construction, the long-term benefits of the remodel far outweigh the temporary inconvenience.

“This cath lab project is a great example of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center investing in our infrastructure,” said Brandon Schmidgall, Good Sam’s chief operating officer said in regards to the $4 million project.  “Cardiovascular care continues to be a priority for us and our patients, and this brings our technology significantly forward.”
