Community Supports PCHD Foundation Gala Fundraiser January 23, 2024 Community members gathered for an evening of celebration at the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation’s 40th Anniversary Gala and Auction in December. Together, they raised $120,000 to help purchase a new echocardiography ultrasound unit for the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. “This event would not be successful without the generosity and commitment of local businesses and individuals,” said Karla Clem, executive director of the PCHD Foundation. “More than 175 individuals contributed to the success of this event in some way, and I couldn’t be more grateful.” The PCHD Foundation expresses appreciation to the following local businesses and individuals for their support of this year’s gala: Georgia-Pacific Toledo Mill and Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Auxiliary, who were gold level sponsors. Life Flight Network, Road & Driveway/Cedar Creek Quarries and Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital medical staff, who were silver level sponsors. Multiple businesses that supported at the bronze level or through donations of live auction items, desserts, gift cards and certificates. “This support helps patients receive the cardiac care services they need, close to home,” Clem said. One such patient is Yachats resident Tom Hagg. He was featured in a short video detailing his cardiac care journey. The video was shown at the gala to inspire giving and illustrate the impact and importance of local cardiac care. Since 1983, generous philanthropists have joined the PCHD Foundation to improve access, inspire hope, build community and leave a legacy of generosity for health care locally. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of local communities by raising funds to acquire new equipment, art, facilities, services and education for the Pacific Communities Health District, in partnership with Samaritan Pacific Health Services. “As a nonprofit health care provider, Samaritan Health Services does not turn anyone away for inability to pay or lack of insurance.
