Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Welcomes New CEO

Samaritan Health Services has hired Laura Hennum as the new Chief Executive Officer at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. She will join Samaritan in late August.

Good Samaritan is the largest of the five hospitals affiliated with Samaritan Health Services, with regional programs that serve residents of Benton, Lincoln and Linn counties.

Hennum was selected after a nationwide search that drew a number of outstanding candidates. She succeeds Becky Pape, who is retiring after a 42-year health care career that includes more than 30 years with Samaritan.

Hennum is also an experienced health care professional, with more than 25 years of leadership roles in several Western states. Most recently, she helped develop and then served as regional CEO of multiple “neighborhood (micro) hospitals” in Southern Nevada. These facilities provide emergency care, inpatient services and related outpatient services in a number of states. Those that Hennum developed were part of a joint venture between Emerus and Dignity Health.

Over the past 18 months, Hennum split her time between Nevada and Washington, where she worked with MultiCare in the Puget Sound region to develop and operate innovative health facilities there.

Hennum previously served as chief strategy officer for Dignity Health’s Nevada Service Area, and she also held leadership roles with health care organizations in Central and Southern California.

Hennum grew up in the Portland area, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications from Washington State University and a master’s degree in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. She began her career with Providence Health & Services, working for both Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Portland Providence Medical Center.

“Laura brings tremendous depth and breadth to her new role at GSRMC, and we are delighted to have her join our team,” said Doug Boysen, JD, MHA, president and CEO of Samaritan Health Services.

“I am eager to join the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center team and support the team’s commitment to its patients and to the community,” Hennum said.  “Samaritan Health Services and Good Samaritan are deeply focused on meeting the needs of the community, and this has always been my guiding principle as a health care professional.”
