Albany Physician Receives Distinguished Service Award January 4, 2018 Glenn Petersen, MD, was recently awarded Samaritan Albany General Hospital’s Distinguished Service Award by his colleagues. The Distinguished Service Award honors a physician or dentist who is dedicated to improving patient care in the hospital and the community and who has been a champion of the Albany medical community. Dr. Petersen has practiced medicine in the Albany community for the past 30 years, providing care to patients at Calapooia Family Medicine and Samaritan Urgent Care – Albany. “His patients adore him and he has provided only the best patient care,” said one of his nominators. Dr. Petersen received praise for his work invigorating students, residents and new graduates with his passion for medicine. In addition to his work in the Albany community, Dr. Petersen and his wife volunteer in Haiti each year. While in Haiti, Dr. Petersen and the Medical Team International physicians care for nearly 200 patients each day. “He exemplifies the finest qualities of a medical practitioner. It is his sustained passion for the well-being of people which makes him very deserving of this award,” read one of his nominations.
