Samaritan Welcomes Vanessa Mizak, FNP June 17, 2021 Play Video Family Nurse Practitioner Vanessa Mizak has joined Samaritan Medical Group Pulmonology – Corvallis. She provides follow-up care and guidance for patients with respiratory conditions and pulmonary disease. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, a master’s degree from the University of Colorado College of Nursing and a family nurse practitioner certificate from University of Colorado Beth-El College of Nursing. From an early age, Mizak knew she wanted to work in the medical profession. “I would bandage my stuffed animals,” she said. “I was fascinated by how the body works.” Communication and education are important in her role as a clinician. “An integral part of my practice and philosophy is educating patients on their diagnoses so that they can make informed decisions on their treatment,” she said. Mizak had many positive experiences collaborating with Samaritan providers in her previous job in a local medical office. “When Samaritan opened the clinic in my specialty, I jumped at the chance,” she said. In her free time, Mizak enjoys spending time with family, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and traveling.
