When we are unable to gather in person\, it can be even more important to talk with other people who are learning how to go on living after someone they love dies. \nThe group is open to all adults who have experienced the death of a loved one\, whether or not it occurred under hospice care. Yet\, most people don’t know this. \nBarbara Karnes\, RN\, created the award-winning educational film\, New Rules for End of Life Care. The film provides guidance on caring for a loved one who is at the end of their life\, whether they are at home\, in a nursing home or a hospital. \nEveryone is invited to attend the screening to gain valuable information that will help you better understand the dying process and the stages of death. The film is 30 minutes in length and will be followed by a 30-minute discussion led by staff from Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.

Flu shots will be available for individuals ages 6 months and older and includes high-dose vaccines for adults 65 and older. The Advance Directive tells the medical team who can speak for the patient and what the patient’s medical wishes are. While this document can feel overwhelming\, these workshops will attempt to make the confusing feel more understandable. \nTopics include: \n\nAdvance directives conversation starters.\nAppointing a health care representative.\nDocumenting your desires in the matter of critical life support.\nBrief introduction to physician orders for life-sustaining treatment (POLST).\n\nDrop-ins are welcome but registration is requested.
